An experienced educator with a passion for music and learning, I’m thrilled to start my fourth year at AVE Academy. In September 2025, I will be moving up to teach English Language Arts to our Middle School students.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Aloha and welcome to a new school year! My name is Ms Joya, and I’m excited to be the Year 6 homeroom teacher this year. I’ve had the joy of teaching many of your children before, and it’s such a delight to see how much they’ve grown since our time together in Year 3. I’m eager to continue building on the strong foundation we’ve created. At the same time, I’m just as excited to meet some newer faces in our classroom community. Getting to know each student—both returning and new—and discovering their unique strengths, interests, and voices is one of my favourite parts of teaching.
For the past eleven years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching students across a wide range of ages (5 to 18), and I hold teaching credentials in multiple subjects. This breadth of experience has shown me how curiosity, creativity, and connection can transform learning at every level. Now, as I begin my fourth year at AVE Academy, I am eager to guide this class through new challenges.
In our classroom, students will be encouraged to take risks, ask big questions, and make meaningful links between their studies, current events, and even pop culture. My goal is not just to help them gain knowledge, but also to strengthen their confidence and independence so that their unique voices shine.
What I love most is the “buzz” of our classroom: students leaning in, collaborating, challenging ideas, and discovering new perspectives together. I can’t wait to hear those conversations continue this year as we explore, learn, and grow side by side.
