Mr. Willem brings over eight years of international and public school teaching experience to AVE Academy, along with a genuine belief that every day in the classroom should feel like a new adventure. His background in ESL gives him a sharp understanding of how to build confidence in young learners, and his enthusiasm for getting students curious and thinking for themselves is something his classes feel from day one.
I’m so excited to be your child’s Year 2 teacher here at AVE Academy.
I’m from South Africa and have lived in Vietnam for more than eight years. I began teaching in Hanoi in 2018 and have since lived and taught in Binh Duong, Thu Dau Mot, Ho Chi Minh City, and now Nha Trang. Over those eight years I have worked in both public and international schools, which has given me the opportunity to teach students from a huge variety of backgrounds and experience levels.
I have a strong background in ESL and love helping young learners build confidence in their English while developing the curiosity and skills they need to grow. In our classroom, every question is a good question, every effort counts, and kindness is non-negotiable.
I believe learning should be engaging and fun. I enjoy creating lessons that encourage students to participate, explore, and build confidence. Recognising and rewarding effort is an important part of how I teach, helping students feel proud of their progress and motivated to keep going.
My goal this year is simple: to make sure every student in Year 2 feels seen, supported, and excited to learn.
