Ms. Angie Hawes brings eight years of international teaching experience across China, Vietnam, and Turkey to AVE Academy’s Year 5A classroom. A former hip-hop dance teacher turned published educator, she designs lessons where students are active builders of knowledge rather than passive listeners and where collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking are always at the centre.
Hello! I’m Angelique, but most people call me Angie. I’m a curious, open-minded educator who believes that community is everything and that when one teaches, two learn.
I have eight years of experience teaching in China, Vietnam, and Turkey. Over the years I have had the privilege of working with learners from a wide range of backgrounds and ages. My approach is student-centred and inclusive: I design engaging lessons, encourage active participation, and create a safe space where every voice matters and mistakes are welcomed as part of learning.
In my classroom, you will not be a passive listener. You will be an active builder of knowledge. Expect collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and plenty of opportunities to think outside the box. I am excited to learn and grow together with you this year!
